In hope of a Fair and Equitable National Care Service / by Camille Aubry

The Care Worker’s Charity strives to empower the incredible individuals in social care. Just before Christmas, they hosted a series of roundtable discussions on the National Care Service (NCS) and Fair Pay Agreement. The NCS being one of the new government’s manifesto pledge, the newly formed Care Worker Advisory board is ensuring care workers’ voices are central in shaping the future of social care, bringing together a diverse range of stakeholder including care workers, sector leaders, providers, suppliers, unpaid carers and people who draw on social care.

Together, they identified key priorities to shape the success of the NCS, such as funding, better pay, training and collaboration. Above all, social care must be valued as its own sector with independent funding.

I was honoured to be invited to capture these fascinating and eye-opening discussions with live illustrations.
